Atlasaurus is a geography game made by an independent developer, named on our Google Play and App Store pages. This page explains what the game keeps, what it sends, and why. It covers the Atlasaurus apps and this website. Questions go to [email protected].
The short version
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and no accounts to sign up for.
- Your progress is saved on your own device.
- If you're on the friends' leaderboard, your player name, scores and a backup of your progress are kept on our server. You can take yourself off at any time, and that deletes it.
- We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- Payments go through Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card.
What stays on your device
Atlasaurus saves each player on the device they play on: the player name you choose, the age group you pick (Kid, Teen / Adult or 18+), your answers, scores, ranks, awards, collectables, streaks and settings. It stays there until you delete the player or remove the app.
If you save a backup file (Me → Backup and move), the file goes wherever you put it. We never see it.
The friends' leaderboard
After a player's first finished game, Atlasaurus puts that player on the friends' leaderboard, under the player name they chose. Our server then keeps:
- the player name and, if the name is taken, a number after it;
- the player's scores, ranks, awards, collectables and the other numbers that the leaderboard and Hero Cards show;
- a backup copy of the player's progress, so they can get it back on a new device with their recovery code;
- the time of the last update.
The recovery code and the key that links your device to the server are stored only in a scrambled form that can't be turned back into the code. If someone types wrong recovery codes, the server notes the internet address they came from, only to slow down guessing.
Everyone on the same leaderboard can see your board name, ranks, scores, awards and collectables. Nobody can see your answers or your backup copy.
To leave the leaderboard: Me → Friends' leaderboard → Take me off the board. That deletes your copy on the server straight away, and the game sends nothing more. You can also keep a player off the board before their first game.
Players in the Kid age group, and players who join through a class code, are never put on the leaderboard.
The leaderboard runs on Cloudflare, which stores and processes this data for us.
Feedback and email
If you send us feedback or an email, we get what you write and your email address. A feedback message from the game also adds the game's version, your type of device and browser, the last map you played, and any recent error messages, so we can find the problem. We use all of it only to answer you and to fix the game, and we don't keep it longer than we need to.
Purchases
Extra games and packs are bought through Google Play or Apple's App Store. They handle the payment. We only learn which pack was bought, so the game can unlock it. Their own privacy policies cover what they collect.
Classes
Class codes and class results stay on the student's device. A class result shows the name the student typed, the class code, the score and a check code. It goes nowhere unless the student shows it or sends it to their teacher.
This website
atlasaurus.app is a plain page. It sets no cookies of its own and has no analytics or ads. Like any website, its host (Cloudflare) sees the internet address of each visit, to deliver the page and keep the site safe.
Children
Atlasaurus is made for teens and adults, with a Kid age group that has gentler jokes. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Players in the Kid group stay off the leaderboard, so nothing about them leaves the device. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
- Delete a player from your device: Me → Player controls → Delete player, or remove the app.
- Delete your leaderboard copy: take yourself off the board in the game, or email us your board name and we'll remove it.
- Ask what we hold about you: email us and we'll tell you.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
